All the adaptations of it are really good! The English dub of the anime is stellar quality.

I've read up through the end of the light novels.

The anime and manga still have quite a lot left to adapt. The anime is only about 1/5th of the way through the light novels, and the manga is a bit further.

Quarter of a century since release and GS never had much officially released HQ art until our archive update today!

We used what little high quality references we could to properly color correct the artwork scanned from the Gold & Silver Pokedex booklet.

Yeah, I ran into the same issue. The game only gives the vessel experiments tutorial when you talk to More, but by that point the game already lets you do most archetype stuff without having to talk to More...
