Good news and an important step. Remember, of course, that this is the compromise position -- the more effective way to handle it would simply be to not let someone drive at all for a few years if they are convicted of reckless driving

Interesting: Any driver convicted of aggravated reckless driving or going more than 20 mph over the speed limit in D.C. can now be required to install an Intelligent Speed Assistance Program – basically, a tool that prevents them from going more than 5 mph over the limit.

I don't understand why the Post agreed to publish this column, given that it doesn't celebrate personal liberties or promote free markets.

3 tickets, two for speeding (in Palisades) and one for parking (in Crestview, interestingly enough right in front of the Russian orthodox church although I have no idea what the church's politics are).
screenshot showing that the car with virginia plates "Z CRIMEA" owes $650 for 3 unpaid parking and speeding tickets.

me earlier this morning, after the brooke pinto delegate announcement: "I hope Jack Evans never runs for the ward 2 council seat ever again!"

[monkey paw index finger begins to curl ...]

well this is how I found out JACK EVANS is thinking about running for Council Chair 🫠 #SackJack #SackJack2

Not great that she started her campaign with a wildly unethical flyer sent to the whole city, at taxpayer expense.

I think the performance of democrats in house and Senate races could help answer this question
ezracycle.bsky.social
and guess what: It's still going to be next to impossible to park in adams morgan.

Interesting how the DC government is able to spring into action and lower the minimum wage when restaurants say that the costs are too much for them, but won't budge on charging them $20 / square foot for outdoor dining space.
ezracycle.bsky.social
If all the space in Adams Morgan currently dedicated to tables and dining goes back to being car parking, it will be a huge loss to the neighborhood. That land is of far greater benefit to the community as is rather than as car storage. wtop.com/dc/2025/09/t...
‘Time to say goodbye’: Outdoor dining will soon look different in DC - WTOP News
Downtown D.C. will see a reduction in outdoor dining as the city phases out its Temporary Streatery Program.

such a good project...wish they had been able to start construction years ago but once it's done it's going to be a great space. Plus it's literally forming new park space out of what's now just air.

"sports" can do this, but football cannot. With only 8 home games a year, the site will be empty and dead 95% of the time. Building a real neighborhood would be far better for the city's economy, not to mention the city's culture and vibrancy. The stadium deal is a huge mistake.

You've also cancelled and removed more bike lanes than any other DC mayor... still waiting on the "alternative" to a CT Ave bike lane you promised 18 months ago when you killed that project

I know that's not the point (which is that Obama was quite uplifting, hopeful, and unifying) but it always annoys me when people talk about trump like he was this political newcomer in 2015. He wants people to think that, but it's just not true
ezracycle.bsky.social
Trump's political journey began long before that! He had talked about running for president as far back as 1988 and formed an exploratory committee in 2000
ezracycle.bsky.social
they "could" except that neither VA nor MD wants this, and residents of DC don't want it either.

i also don't think it's "greedy" for DC residents like me to ask for the same basic rights that everyone in the 50 states has.

VERY funny to me that you think "man of constant sorrow" was written for the movie! It's more than a century old and the arrangement in O Brother was closely based on the Stanley Brothers' version.

Repeatedly referring to your plans for Ward 7 (a seat you ran for in a prior election) when you are currently running for at-large is also a sign of unprofessionalism.
Screenshot of various proposals on the Nate Fleming campaign site, all of which refer to Ward 7 and are (in my opinion) most likely copied from a previous election
ezracycle.bsky.social
Nate Fleming is running for at-large council and his transportation qualifications include bragging about making it easier for bad drivers to stay on the road, so it's going to be pretty tough for him to earn my vote.
Screenshot of a part of Nate Fleming's campaign website. It says:

Fairness: Wrote legislation that restored the drivers licenses of over 60,000 residents who were suspended for ticket debt.

Transport: Instrumental in creating the 2020 DC Ticket Amnesty Program
ezracycle.bsky.social
Emergency legislation seems unlikely given that a majority of the council has voted, twice, to move forward with RCV. Not sure what a ballot dispute would look like though.
ezracycle.bsky.social
Also it's funny that this post refers to "the ward" when he's running at large. Maybe he copy and pasted from a previous campaign website?
ezracycle.bsky.social
At this point what could stop rcv? Just federal interference, right?
