Totally agree. The benefits calculator on Age Uk did give suggested figures for what they might pay in rent and council tax if that helps.
I really wish that every politician had to actually navigate a claim for themselves and the uncertainty and stress it causes for people.

They count the transitional protection payment as income for council tax in most councils so you end up paying more. Also, I think every time UC goes up, the transitional payment goes down by same amount, so benefit of it eroded each year. Not clear in paperwork as usual.

I think fuschia are generally non toxic for cats unless they eat a lot - he generally likes to just break off the branches of plants and use them as a toothbrush!

I think they try to make it as awkward as possible. Have just helped someone who had to transfer from old style benefits to Universal Credit and they are worse off.
Age UK have a benefits calculator on their website which is quite good. Pension credit if you qualify should work in your favour.
