🚨The FTAO is deeply concerned by the @ec.europa.eu’s proposal to delay the #EUDR. This risks legal uncertainty for producers and raises doubts about the EU’s commitment to sustainable value chains.

Any delay must be strictly limited & used to support smallholders in a fair, sustainable transition.

The story of a lovely woman who lived to be 95 and died yesterday in Clonakilty. She achieved alot by not accepting the status quo - in the church, in international trade - and did things about it herself.

She set up the Fairtrade communities in Ireland 🙌🏼🙏 👏👌

🗣️ Indigenous communities in Brazil are speaking out against carbon credits

Indigenous leaders like Alessandra Munduruku stress that Indigenous voices have been sidelined, even though they are nature's true guardians, when it's come to conversations around carbon credits.

Int Day for the Remembrance of Slavery and It’s Abolition

The injustices of slavery have long tail legacies all over the world.

Tea, sugar, coffee all have slavery in their international trade history - the roots of the exploitation of farmers and workers still

It’s personal and political.

Democracy is a participative activity - it’s not a bauble we inherit and bequeath.

Creative activities like this one are everywhere required, always needed.

Fairtrade was created to help transform trade for small-scale farmers and workers.

Lot more to do

We don’t think enough about medieval levels of inequality in the world, in Fairtrade. 🤔

Income and wealth inequality topped with the hot spice of chaotic climate change will burn us all.

Or we can work to change things for everyone and our beautiful planet

Doesn’t matter whether it is organic food production or deforestation free food production - rich counties don’t have the right to dump all the costs of environmentally better food production on small-scale food farmers in poorer countries - being ‘competitive’ at their expense is a cheap shot.

The new #EUOrganic Regulation brings complex admin & financial burdens that many smallholders can’t meet without support, threatening their organic certification & EU market access.

The #FairTrade Movement urges the EU to act now to support farmers & protect global organic trade.

We very much doubt that any of the people calling for a stall on this have any idea of the amount of time and money that has been spent by small-scale coffee and cocoa farmers to be able to comply with the regs.

Europe is embarrassing itself on this one - need to be #CompetitiveANDSustainabble

Very disappointing to see Nina Carberry, Regina Doherty, Seán Kelly, ‪@mariawalshmep.bsky.social‬ voting to delay the start of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) - the EU’s primary tool to curb deforestation. Postponement risks delaying action when deforestation continues at an alarming pace

Measures like the #EUDR are vital steps toward a more sustainable sector.

🛑 The #FairTrade Movement regrets the Council’s position on #CSDDD. It weakens due diligence, sidelines smallholders, workers and responsible businesses & risks long-term harm to EU competitiveness.

We urge MEPs to defend a truly risk-based, full supply chain approach.
