New York Times bestselling author, comics writer, and historian. Author of STAR WARS, STAR TREK, and BATMAN novels. May the Bat-Force Live Long and Prosper!

For those new to BlueSky, I write novels and comics in multiple universes. My latest STAR WARS novel, THE LIVING FORCE, came out this year; I also wrote the first STRANGE NEW WORLDS novel, THE HIGH COUNTRY. And now BATMAN: RESURRECTION, the first original novel tying into the Tim Burton Bat-films.
Saturday at GalaxyCon Columbus and Timothy Zahn and I are set up, bright and early! (And I see I have a case of “lanyard collar. It’s fixed.) Drop by our tables in row 700 — and catch our worldbuilding panel at 11:15 a.m. Sunday!
December 6, 2025 at 2:40 PM
And #GalaxyConColumbus is underway! Come see me at booth 738 in the main hall — as well as my neighbors Timothy Zahn, @alexsegura.bsky.social , and @ethansacks.bsky.social . Plus check out my Tim Burton’s Batman slideshow at 6 in Panel Room 4 today!

For those compelled to seek out more Max Shreck, he‘s a key player in our BATMAN novels: RESURRECTION and, particularly, REVOLUTION. Since they precede RETURNS, including him felt perfectly natural!
While it is dismal to think about how prescient of a villain Max Shreck was, Christopher Walken’s standout performance paired with the fact that BATMAN RETURNS is the only place he shows up has always compelled me.

The further we get from these series, the more likely I am to explain this photo by saying Jethro is a time traveler from Ancient Rome.

Dustin Weaver's favorite KOTOR issue is full of scenes where he went above and beyond. My script asked for "a typical warship bridge with a good view of the battle through a forward portal -- and perhaps some holographic displays." So @dustinweaver.bsky.social went ahead and designed us a movie set!

Seconded. It was a delight to steer Veers some cheer last year.

I suspect the woman in the hardware aisle Friday who was ranting that "the area didn't need any more bookstores" had no idea that I and my barely existent motor skills were about to spend the weekend deciphering Swedish instructions in order to triple the bookshelf space in my office.

Been enjoying Ken Burns' THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION — especially as we revealed Gotham City's secret Revolutionary War history in BATMAN: REVOLUTION, on sale now in audiobook, ebook, and hardcover. (The key events "happened" during episode 4 of the documentary, for those keeping score!)

Finishing November 13th the way one must: watching Felix Unger being asked to leave his place of residence. (That request came from his wife.)

If you're going to spend billions to get the Olympics because they're the only thing that gets people to subscribe to your streaming service to sample your series, maybe spare a few bucks so you don't have to cancel those series three months before the Olympics.

The 007 crew is having trouble undoing Bond's on-screen death? I was in college when I saw Jack Nicholson's Joker squashed on the pavement — and went, "Yeah, I can work with that." Which I finally got to, 35 years later, using my idea from way back when.

Ask a comics fan, folks!
