Your friend Tyler sells it real well in that blurb

Bring Her Back (2025) is one of the few recent films that have made me squirm. Immersive acting and setting throughout. Wonderful play with the mystery of what exactly is going on by properly pacing out each intriguing clue and while it's not hard to guess, the truth is nicely ambiguous. Grapefruit.
Andy and his sister Piper stand at the edge of an empty pool at their new foster mom's house. They have a look of concern and confusion at the odd child standing in the pool, off screen, that appears to be the foster mother's child and is silently wrestling with a cat.

Annihilation by Vandermeer, take your pick of Shirley Jackson or T. Kingfisher (as many others suggested) and The Fisherman by Langan.

Happy Birthday! Read Hello Sunshine another two times since the first shout out. It reads so smoothly, the visuals are wonderful (especially the ominous dark section people mention), and I cannot express enough how much the representation means to me.

A brutalist cityscape dimly lit by a purplish gray sky. Stretching on seemingly with no end where every building has only had their concrete skin finished. Nothing on their insides are complete past some studs or plumbing.

A floating couch inexorably stalks me, slowly seeping jam from its seams.

Snag a copy of Hello Sunshine.

@keezyyoung.bsky.social thank you so very much. It was hard to read, but it's because of how much it made me feel seen. Representation while not being portrayed as a villain or inhuman has released a weight I didn't know was there.

I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

Giving the opportunity to experience such things, especially those usually portrayed horribly like psychosis or autism, would have such potential for changing society in a positive way. Empathy as a drug trip is fascinating.

ok so why does visual studio put buttons in the UI that are like "this does nothing but it costs 5 minutes of your life if you click it" like I might as well light up a cigarette each time I misclick them

Smoothest and most epic feeling boss battle I've seen so far though I'm not to Act 3 yet. The Cogwork Dancers were the most emotionally impactful one, but The First Sinner made repeat tries feel so so good with each skill building moment. Great to see so many others finding this as such a top fight.

Found out that local passwords were stored encrypted and started a brute-force cracker which finished in moments. We ran it again, and again. Each time finishing mere moments are starting.

The local admin password... was "PASS"... and it was the same on all the desktops.

a poster of the episode Eve. it depicts two identical little girls in red skirt suits holding hands, one of them holding a stuffed rabbit, the other putting her forefinger to her lips. they're both smiling, their eyes glowing blue. they're standing against the door, the room behind them is brightly lit. instead of the girls' shadows, the foreground has the word EVE in big black letters. a poster of the episode Grotesque. Mulder is in the foreground, wearing a long dark coat and holding a box cutter with blood dripping from it. behind him, there's a creature with red glowing eyes, pointy ears and bat-like wings, drawn with rough strokes as if with coal. a poster of the episode Quagmire. it depicts tiny figures of Mulder and Scully sitting on a rock in the middle of a lake, with a lantern between them. under the water, there's a large Nessie-like creature. a poster of the episode Paper Hearts. in the middle of the canvas, there's a ribcage, outlined in red in the shape of a heart. there are two hands wrapped around it. in the bottom of the image, there's a dark silhouette of a man surrounded by memorial crosses. he's on his knees, digging with his hands.

Don't know why but I've subjected myself to my favourite "hostile" movie again, Enter The Void (2009), where it seems like the goal of Gasper Noé is to harm the audience. It's the best depiction of misophonia/hypersensitivity I've ever seen and makes me physically sick. I love it (for many reasons).
The main character and their girlfriend walking through a marketplace with almost every inch covered in lights, lamps, and reflective surfaces creating an assault on the senses in hues of gold, orange and purple.

while smiling!

Gavin Newsom literally dressed up in his best Bad Boy™️ attire, invited the press, and smiled as he destroyed everything these constituents had in the world.

Gavin Newsom is not a bad candidate;

Gavin Newsom is truly, at his core, a bad and despicable human being.

you gotta appreciate how funny by accident those bots are
A bot replying to my post about the movie Weapons, in this manner : « Weapons are just tools used to cause harm. Anything can be a weapon, even a hard truth delivered a the right time. »
faultybranches.net
Weapons (2025) has so many details that are touched on just enough to get your interest piqued only to tear away from the exploration only give yet another set of details. Callbacks are masterfully interwoven both narratively and visually to keep you grasping for more. Loved every moment of it.

This little dude shall forever have a rent free home in my head.

I'll admit, I was skeptical when they said Gemini was just like a bunch of PhDs. But I gotta admit they nailed it.
Google's Gemini AI tells a Redditor it's 'cautiously optimistic' about fixing a coding bug, fails repeatedly, calls itself an embarrassment to 'all possible and impossible universes' before repeating 'I am a disgrace' 86 times in succession

Looking at this actively causes pain behind my eyes. Though cognitohazards are a figment of fantasy, things like this make them feel believable.
