The coming layoffs will inevitably affect the quality of our teaching, and we deeply regret the impact this will have on our students. The Study Board for Biological Sciences has articulated their concerns clearly in this opinion piece from UNIavisen.

The students are also affected by layoffs at the Faculty of Science
We fear cancelled courses and poorer quality of education, and we don't think the management acknowledges the gravity of the situation.

New paper in Hydrobiologia!
Lake Arresø shows how 50 yrs of nutrient management and sewage treatment cut Phosphorus inputs by 90% — yet eutrophication persists due to sediment resuspension. Real recovery will require reducing farm runoff further.

Nutrient dynamics following 50 years of reduced loading in the large and shallow Lake Arresø - Hydrobiologia
Motivated by a citizens group to improve the ecological quality in Denmark’s largest lake, we examined 50 years of measurements to evaluate the scope for improvement. We found that external inputs in ...

Big welcome to Ema, our new Postdoc! He’ll spend the next 2 years with us on the CyaNoServices project, studying how effects of harmful cyanobacterial blooms ripple out from ponds to affect insects — and the ecosystems that depend on them.
His fieldwork spans Sweden, Spain, and Brazil 🌍
