I do 3D Printing, knitting, crafts of all kinds. Love cats. Black Lives Matter, Love is Love. Currently just selling 3D prints as a hobby side gig, and part-time caretaking for mom. Formerly Software Developer QA for iOS apps as my day job. (Not looking.)

Oh and you have PETG now too 🥺 (yeah, it’s been a while since I’ve looked, you’ve probably had these for a while…)

I’ve been doing more with PETG because it’s more durable for small articulated prints for kids, and again struggling to find good colors. 💜💜💜
Side note, I generally default to Amazon for browsing, this is a good reminder to check the makers of the filament directly as they may have more on their own websites. Hard to remember with so many though 😬
I am so glad I logged in today and saw this. I’m starting to play with TPU and have been looking for good colors, particularly gradients!

The only thing I could ask for is a darker green that doesn’t have a lot of blue for a particular idea. But super stoked you have TPU!
Activity trackers should really have an easy toggle for “cat mode” - I have a sleeping/snuggling cat on me, don’t nag me to stand/move until deactivated.
I’ve seen other people saying they didn’t get any notification either, so idk if it was only some people got it or what.

I found a new mobile vet that was able to get us in next Monday, and their fees are way less than the other one anyhow. 🙄
TheVets got their full exam fee just in June, and did NOT give us a new Rx, but the last couple years of Molly’s records are just gone. The hassle to get her meds just adds insult to the injury of now having to pay another full exam fee and possibly traumatize the cat with a car trip. 4/4

We have an elderly cat who does NOT travel well and needs medication. We just had a full exam with lab work in June. No vet will prescribe her medication without seeing her.

I now have a week to find a mobile vet that can see her and get Rx, or haul her in if we can get appt at a normal vet. 2/3
Well, shit. If anyone has been using BetterVet or TheVets as mobile vet, be aware that 1) BetterVet merged with TheVets and then 2) TheVets (including everything related to BetterVet patients) SHUT DOWN with no communication to patients in July 2025. Website is still up. No indication. 1/3
Ugh. This is just making me feel more like I am on my way out of 3D printing. And the appearance of #FlexiFactory items in stores priced 25-75% lower than I would charge at a market and the fact that for the first time in 4 years I didn’t get a spot at my favorite holiday market… meh.
I’m picking up a “cardiac event monitor” this afternoon, as I’m experiencing some elevated heart rate issues (sort of POTS-like symptoms). I’ve been doing research on my own and decided to try some compression stuff. Not sure if it’s helping the heart stuff, but I love them anyhow. 😻 4/4
In other news, wearing (properly fitting) compression leggings and shirts is nearly as comforting as a weighted blanket. If I can just find the right shirts, I might even be able to try sleeping without the weighted blanket. 3/4
Compression clothing has specific characteristics and properties, often medical in nature. Having to weed through dozens of similar listings and ignore those that aren’t compression (even though they look identical) is frustrating af. I already returned one item because I wasn’t so diligent. 🙄 2/4
Dear Amazon (and others):

A search for clothing with the word “compression” indicates I want garments that have COMPRESSION. Not “athletic” not “active” not “wicking” (though those are all usually part of what people want with a compression garment). 1/4
My partner and I have been pretty anti-smart-shit in our house. The closest we have is smart TVs that just have apps for streaming, or my one attempt at using smart lightbulbs for dimming and changing light temperature from an app (not voice control) so I’m a total novice. 4/4
Or even suggestions for good smart TVs and DVD players etc, and a really good guide on how to set up Alexa (or Google or whatever, I think mom has Alexa maybe already) to control them by voice, preferably with easy shortcut phrases or something? 3/4
I’m thinking like if mom could say “Alexa, turn on the TV to play a DVD.” But also “Alexa, turn on the TV to Disney+.” And have it automatically change inputs etc.

She seems to be successfully using the TV with the DVD player, but often can’t figure out how to get back to cable or streaming. 😬 2/4
Are there any smart solutions to help seniors with all the TV options? Mom is struggling with the new technologies and remotes with tiny buttons etc.

Smart TVs that have built-in DVD players (which can also play music CDs) AND can interface with Alexa or something similar? 1/4
I’m waiting for my mom to get done at the dentist. In the lobby, the TV is showing old shows. Currently, “Alice” which we watched a lot when I was a kid (oops, my age is showing 😳)

And coincidentally, this episode happens to be about when Alice cracks a tooth and goes to see Mel’s dentist 😹
“As unnoticeable as a fart at a Metallica concert.”
I listen to a LOT of audiobooks. Sometimes I stumble across an author that uses … interesting metaphors.

The one that threw me out of the story with a snort just now was:

“Shrieking like a possum in a paint mixer.”

Ugh, I don’t understand why some people think it’s ok to be condescending and rude like that. Even if it were easy and accurate to use them, what if your glasses were lost or broken? 🙄
Here we go again. Let’s see if it actually gets delivered today.

Note: I’ve watched the “truck” circle around in like a 3 mile radius around our house for HOURS before, so seeing the truck about a mile away means very little.
@scalzi.com is one of the reasons I haven’t completely given up on social media.

Frequently refreshingly wholesome.
My transformation into a cat bed is now complete
(It’s a crowdfunded smart ring that sounded SO GOOD, but the company doesn’t know what they’re doing and most of the promised functionality has been removed or delayed, and people who have - finally - gotten it mostly say it sucks.)
