I have long posited that Daniel Craig's accent in Glass Onion is better than Knives Out because in Knives Out he is trying to do a real Southern accent and is bad at it but in Glass Onion he is just talking like Foghorn Leghorn, which is something a real gay Southern weirdo would do.

read wicked the book a long time ago and it lowkey stinks, sorry. i largely enjoy the musical (some of those songs are undeniable) even tho a lot of what i don't like about the book makes it into the musical. was lucky enough to see original broadway cast in 04.

ok i'm enjoying survivor 49 now because i believe the show knows how nerdy the nerds are, and while they aren't giving them derp derp music, they go one better and make it subtle, just enough for it to feel like the show is saying "don't worry, we see it too"

bless the survivor editor who wanted to take things avant-garde

kept last shot bc it's a perfect example of the editing & camerawork on survivor. savannah looking at sophie, the way the shot pans to sophie. pinpointing that moment has more observation & awareness than a lot being made

there is a hilarious thread running through survivor 49 where jawan creates these moments for himself to be the victor on tv & he always fails. this show depicts him like a 7-year old bc he truly comes off like a kid to me. the show isn't punctuating it w/ music but they do keep them in

since i've spent like the last six months learning about robert goddard for my job, i was extremely onboard with the logistics of the first half, everything about academia, science, and funding, equipment, testing, all that was catnip to me
clocking in to report i liked nu frankenstein more than i thought i would. actually ok w/ the simplistic morality bc the focus on the parent/child dynamic felt rich enough in its absence. a lot of it looked like shit but a few parts looked great? elordi the real deal, isaac pretty dopey

I have had a few people ask about the BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE image in my intros. That was created by @feminaridens.bsky.social , and while I believe that is out of stock, Katie has other pieces of art and collage style zines that would make any cinephile happy

and everybody is just scratching their heads like why people don't go to the movies anymore. and it's like welp, you disassembled everything that made moviegoing a pastime and you did it while social media cemented its status as the new monoculture and medium of our time. great job.

this industry dismantled itself and is just flailing. everything looks like dogshit, people aren't going to new movies, movie stars don't drive tickets anymore, & streaming completely ruined the accessible exclusivity that used to accompany the theatrical experience. absolute morons.

nobody is watching these things and thinking they should go out and see whatever the movie is. press tours simply become part of our daily social media diet, they just get subsumed & broken down into bite-sized bits like everything else. it drives views not tickets, so ridiculous
