I feel like, in my childhood, men and boys used to spit in the street more than they do now.

I feel no need for anonymity. There is no greater issue facing the world today. Stamp. It. Out.

I've heard this. I just worry it's going to be full of drunk people taking a punt.

The Riyadh Comedy Festival is so commercial now. Accommodation, flyering and PR costs are insane. And yet, if you want to be seen by producers, you have to go. And now, people like me, who’ve been doing it for years can’t sell tickets because big acts are turning up.

Absolutely loved this, it resonated on so many levels.

Although I think I was a bit more snobbish about my precious Oasis suddenly being loved by the jocks who had despised nerdy Indie kid Bobbins as much as I despised them.

Wordle's running out of words.

I honestly think I induced myself into a sort of breakdown when I was writing that section.

Made the mistake of listening to the New York chapters of Once Upon a Crime by @ferguscraig.bsky.social on a train. Laughing like a loon.

Thank you. Sorry, I'm not in that habit. It's the back of my son's jumper with the words 'be happy in the moment and appreciate the little things'.
ferguscraig.bsky.social
I asked my son what he thought ‘appreciate the little things’ meant and he said ‘don’t be mean to people who are smaller than you’.

This is one of the all time nights for people posting stupid shit on the internet.

Split the script fee two ways and we could be millionaires!

Going to take this question seriously. In all honesty, I think he would have seen past the stuttering sob story and appreciated Gates for his earthy truth. A life in the theatre would, I think, have made him reject Young's more theatrical style.

Probably watched the Gareth Gates v Will Young Pop Idol final.

@ferguscraig.bsky.social - my friend Ash isn’t on Bluesky but asked me to pass on the message that the Dyson she won works brilliantly and “It's everything that the VAX wishes it could be”. Thanks again! And what a night, indeed!
A photo of a young woman on the street, looking delighted to have won a Dyson from Martin Fishback

Me, my family and murder.
I think I must have been about nine.

Lifetimes in a few short, well written paragraphs.

This resonated, for different reasons. My dad knew he'd passed his 11-plus but was still forced to attend a secondary modern. Why? His parents and extended family were all very active in the co-op/trade union movement and 'not the right class'.
My dad had always thought that he’d failed his eleven plus, meaning he didn’t get to go to grammar school and was instead sent to a secondary modern, the dumping ground of the British education system of his youth. In his forties, he went to a school reunion and learned that he had in fact passed it. They just didn’t want a boy from his family going to the nice school.

My mum’s just texted to say she disputes one fact: it was a duck, not a rabbit. Will edit.

"When my dad was a baby, his sixteen-year-old uncle was convicted of murdering a police officer. The case is famous because although Christopher Craig held the gun, it was Derek Bentley, his nineteen-year-old friend who hung for the crime."
