Despite some odd glitches near the end Shin Megami Tensei II is hands down one of the most enjoyable RPG's of its time. I was absolutely captivated by its gorgeous presentation and gripping story. It's a shame the game hasn't had a proper remaster. Big recommend 10/10! But maybe play the PSX version

Nice essay echoing some thoughts I've had about E33's cultural reception. I've always thought it has this its air of respectability comes from evoking modern television aesthetics, so it's "not nerdy" to enjoy it (vs. Something like trails or rpgmaker games which have just as interesting stories)
