"Freedom" has always had the same meaning to white Christian conservatives.
I always take the opportunity to remind people that the "don't tread on me" guy ... wanted to be left alone to tread on OTHERS in peace.

It's legitimately pretty funny to watch ICE compare themselves to the Virgin Mary
It’s hard to imagine better free advertising than this.

This doesn't sound like a real punishment.

I mean, they're taking money from him, fine, but what I'm saying is: This doesn't sound like a punishment that was specifically indicated for any specific offense, and ordered by a military judge.

It sounds like "some shit they're doing b/c they can".
The Pentagon will cut the military retirement pay of Sen. Mark Kelly for what Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called the Arizona Democrat’s “seditious” statements on a video telling service members they have the right to refuse to execute illegal orders.

The way the press is treating chatbots, like they have agency and they “know” things all of a sudden, crossed the line recently from dumb and obsequious to something else entirely. Treating them as alive and making conscious decisions is an almost religious belief. It won’t age well.

It's gonna be hilarious when the revenue department goes after this guy with obvious proof that he's still an NYC resident, like 183 consecutive daily photos of him exiting his apartment in the morning.

An absolutely wonderful, versatile, powerful and powerfully funny actor who enlivened everything he was in, and a huge loss. I'm not going to say the word, but we're all thinking it in his honor. RIP Isiah Whitlock. deadline.com/2025/12/isia...

This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Perfect take, no notes. And I included two of these in my Top 10 for their respective years.

Doing a specific thing I enjoy well gets a lot of respect from me.
I have a lot of respect for the Knives Out movies just as an exercise in people making solid B+ level entertainment where everyone seems to be enjoying the experience without it needing it to win Oscar’s or make 3 billion dollars. It’s like going to a good steakhouse.

This is literally The Video They Didn't Want You To See, featuring a true story of a horrendous crime committed by our government, which Bari Weiss personally prevented from airing because she is a right-wing propagandist who supports Trump, placed in charge of CBS News by its billionaire owner.

"Administration insiders, including a puppy-murdering Cabinet Secretary who posed inside the facility wearin a fuckin Rolex and sent people there illegally in violation of the Constitution and a federal court order in plain view of the entire American public, gave no comment."
One explanation for Bari killing the story is that she did so as a public act of fealty to the administration. But another is that, as an inexperienced journalist, she doesn’t understand that a refusal to go on the record is a kind of comment in and of itself

So, a prime-time address means he's doing a war, right?

A big, dumb expensive war where we invade another country for their oil and to install a puppet government and to pretend like it's about anything besides that?

Which the next Democrat (if applicable) will reluctantly continue?

What a cruel and despicable fate for Rob Reiner and Michele Singer.

A creator of great American art, gone, now and forever - and a pair of precious human lives snuffed out.

The act means nothing.
Their lives are what mattered.

And whatever monstrous person did this, I hope they face justice.

The [paid, out-of-state] signature gatherers in Washington have complained about harassment as they gather signatures to take away the rights of trans kids and make them afraid to go to school, and let Christians prevent other people's kids from reading books they don't like.
