So I have a problem.
I may have an addiction to reading HORROR Books.
But Ive found a solution that helps me to justify my daily indulgences by reviewing and blogging about them.
Things I’ve learned while reading Kylie Lee Baker’s ‘Bat Eater and Other Names For Cora Zeng’ is that Chinese Ghosts are way scarier than white people ghosts. Also do not eat food meant to be served to hungry ghosts.
Thank you MIRA for my arc copy.

I loved @rachelyoder.bsky.social’s Nightbitch. It is by far one of my favourite feminist domestic horror novels. Just finished watching @marielleheller.bsky.social film adaptation which was very good, Amy Adams was amazing and the body horror was so uncomfortable.

Someone was asking me about various ancient Greek mythological narratives and the Greek Gods, when I came to the most shocking realization. Personality wise, they are like the divine embodiment of the cast of Jersey Shore mixed with a few of the Real Housewives from various Bravo series.

@natcassidy.bsky.social well writing ‘ When The Wolf Comes Home’ inspired by the X-Files crossover episode with Cops called ‘X-Cops’ with the werewolf? Because that’s all I could think of while reading the initial incident at Jessa’s apartment building, the media coverage and police+ FBI responses

How do you all feel about setting aside books you don’t love? I used to feel really guilty if I was ever given a book as a gift or sent an arc to review that I didn’t like because it either:
A) just wasn’t a genre or topic that interested me
Or
B) I hated the writing/ boring

@encyclopub.bsky.social @jendiagammon.bsky.social Doomflower felt like a guilty pleasure. It’s like clueless/mean girls/ the oc had a baby with Day of the Triffids. Super juicy teen drama and a vegans worst nightmare for the end of the world. Can’t believe I read this in two sitting.

So I’m teaching myself how to paint…without books or YouTube.
Today, I had a massive breakthrough -decided to apply my years of practical experience in the art of make application. Where I mastered in the fine art of contouring and sharp as knives cat eyes.
This is the same painting one day apart

I found a huge problem with audiobooks. The content and writing can be absolutely amazing but entirely ruined by the narrator. To the point where I don’t even want to listen.
Up until this point I’ve only experienced the opposite, where the narrator makes the horrible book worth listening too.

Playing catch up on writing reviews today while listening to nonfiction audiobooks in the background. I actually really enjoy listening to nonfiction horror theory and reference books.

Horror as a genre can teach us a lot about our culture and ourselves. It is a reflection of the time’s societal and culturaly specific fears, values, and anxieties felt by the masses.

A Quarter Century of Horror: What Societal Fears are Captured in Horror Movies Released from 2000-2024?
A quarter of the way into the twenty-first century, it feels like a good time to reflect on what we’re afraid of (so far, at least). Let's look at what the horror of the last 25 years tells us about o
