My obituary on Con Pederson. I never had the opportunity to meet or interview him, but he was a fascinating man.
Remembering Con Pederson (1934–2026), the visionary animator and special photographic effects supervisor whose contribution to '2001: A Space Odyssey' changed science fiction cinema. A quiet pioneer of both analog and digital worlds.

Tim Greiving’s new book about John Williams is a tsunami of love for movie music that pours out of its +500 pages.

I’m halfway through, in the summer of 1982 (my own take, below). But it’s a monumental achievement. Highly recommended.

10 years ago, Spielberg’s “Bridge of Spies” inspired one of my purple-prose Flashfilms reviews: shorturl.at/fHKJM Revisiting the film tonight, a scene jumped out at me where an FBI agent (Scott Shepherd) is pushing Hanks to violate his attorney/client oath. Resonant today:

My old short film never had its IMDb, until now, when I realised its BBC TV appearance likely warranted that distinction. To my happy surprise, the IMDb staff agreed. It was surreal writing the synopsis to something I made 40+ years ago.
