I remember summer 2018 (🎶I remember that summer in Dublin 🎶) where due to travel and nice weather, i essentially didn't see rain for a month and lost it a bit, as i'd never been more than like 3 days without *something*. This last month has been the total opposite.

While i wouldnt have expected anything less, it's one of those days where i'm glad that my laddy lad lads chat (most of us Manchester United fans, no less) comes out as unapologetically pro-immigrant and anti-billionaire

Hows this looking btw
If we're *extremely* lucky, in a generation or so, they'll make movies about the rise and fall of the current fascism, and people and outlets still around t the time should never be allowed to forget just what they did in the face of authoritarianism

There's this overwhelming desire in some people, often men, to be in the crowd and talk about how the Emperor's isn't *entirely* naked, actually, how its sad to see the mob overlook that he's wearing shoes, and it will be the death of us
Once again: people are angry for very good reason, and this brand of post is perhaps one of the most tedious and bewildering. Practically every social media platform is rabidly pro-‘AI’ so are govts, academia, companies. This one small space being critical of AI is okay, I think.

I was listening to a fascinating podcast on Abundance and then i heard it... clear as day my headphones talked to me- they said "low battery". They can feel hunger. They said "please charge" they express desire. Trembling, i constructed an altar so i may worship this new sapience

Does he know about the concept of collective cabinet responsibility, i wonder. And if so, one must assume he was saying 'Israel is commiting war crimes (laudatory)'
In now publicly available text correspondence between the British health secretary Wes Streeting and former British ambassador to the US, Peter Mandelson, Streeting admitted that Israel was committing war crimes, conspiring to ethnically cleanse Gaza, and that the UK should sanction the government.
Wes Streeting privately said Israel committing war crimes, backed sanctions on 'rogue state'
The British health secretary privately admitted last year that the Israeli government 'talks the language of ethnic cleansing'

This is why "oh it's just a tool" never cut it with me- if your tool for note taking is being pushed by the worst people in the world in increasingly fevered & dystopian tones, it might be time to stop being a smug prick and consider if your enlightened neutrality on the subject is in fact right
But the truth is that AI is a cult, the AI bros are a literal cult. They worship this shit, the worship it in the name of the dollar, they worship it to create their Basilisk, they worship it in the name of annihilating the normal economy and changing the world into their image which is weird shit!

Local radio station has a bit where one of the breakfast hosts is blindfolded and driven somewhere random in Dublin, where he then smells the air and guesses if he's on the north or south side. Constant innovation here, im in awe

Incidentally, what happens when you remove the "financially compromised ‘best pal’ of a child sex trafficker" faction from power, but you have 200 or so MPs loyal to the "financially compromised ‘best pal’ of a child sex trafficker" faction
If this story is accurate, then all those stories about Keir Starmer meticulously selecting only the highest-quality candidates in 2024 were horseshit and, in reality, we are now governed by a crop of MPs personally selected by the financially compromised ‘best pal’ of a child sex trafficker.
Huge story in @theipaper.com

"[Mandelson] was very involved in all the details; I think he enjoyed it. He was involved in all the personalities and the mechanics including asking the question of who do we want in which seat"

Probably a breach of GDPR laws too ...
