It’s just delirious. None of this makes any sense.
Trump says he'll impose a 10% tariff (rising to 25% in June) on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Finland, because they've sent people to Greenland, until the US can buy Greenland.

When Elon changed the name of Twitter to X everyone was like "what the fuck, that sounds like the name of a website for extremely illegal pornography made by and for nazis"

And behold what it became.

Yeah, I was right in the middle of it. And yeah, the whole “dark fiber” thing was a wonder to behold. Now we have “dark GPUs” that will be obsolete by the time the data centers are built, which are waiting for the power and water infra. Yeah lots of companies are going to die.

[…] in his conversation with the Times, Trump said, “I don’t need international law.” When asked if there were any limits on his powers on the world stage, Trump said: “Yeah, there is one thing. My own morality. My own mind.”

We shall not forget
I appreciate the WSJ following up on this story, which is already in danger of being one of many forgotten scandals in elite academia.
“There is no world where this makes any sense,” said David Autor, one of the MIT professors who had previously championed his student’s research. www.wsj.com/economy/aida...

Things are not looking great. How on earth is this possible?
Evidently there was an Auschwitz-themed float in a Halloween parade in Pennsylvania.

The float was for a Catholic school, and to their credit the church immediately disavowed it.

Thing is, I don’t think high school kids did this entirely on their own. I’m guessing parents had to be involved.

And so it begins, Musk's Grokipedia is scraping Wikipedia and re-writing things in Musk's image.

The entry for climate change?

Let's just say the Wikipedia entry has neither an "Economic and Policy Critiques" section, nor one on the "Role of Media and Advocacy" that accuses both of bias.

The @python.org foundation is fundamental in maintaining python. Y'all are waiting for the huge benefits of AI to materialize? Good luck without a working python ecosystem. Trump has cut funding, because they are here for everyone ("diverse and international"). You can chip in, 25$/year. #econsky
TLDR; The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity, equity, and inclusion values ahead of seeking $1.5M in new revenue. Please read and share. pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-...

Look, I dont care about about your accent or limited vocabulary in English. But the Spanish Erasmus student standing in front of me, punching Spanish sentences into her phone, so that she can “talk” to me is one step too far. You must speak basic English. It’s embarrassing.

The amount is meaningless — less than one day of salary. But the principle is important: once the armed services are paid by the oligarchs, they become a private militia, and we no longer have a country.

Trump doesn’t like climate change, so he just stops funding climate research. Great explainer by FT what this means. Obviously not smart to fly without any data through the haze in general, but even short term outcomes (weather forecasts, insurance premia etc) are under threat. on.ft.com/4nZI1II
