Three chums, one microphone, and a whole world of folk horror. The Folk n Hell podcast unearths delights from around the world and tries to agree if they're worth our (and your) time.

There's always a copy out there if you're prepared to pay. Cheap ones turn up every now and then too. I got mine about 5 years ago for £20. No dustjacket, but otherwise it's in great condition. A lovely, lovely book
I bought a copy of this from a charity shop years ago. I knew it had increased in value, but I see Oxfam is knocking it out for £250.

Every black dog, standing stone, pagan dance & village ritual leads back here.

Reader's Digest "Folklore, Myths & Legends of Britain" (1973) is the keystone of British #folklore & #folkhorror. A book that's become part of the myth it recorded.

An excellent analysis of this classic volume.
“With more enthusiasm than academic rigour, essays on 2000 years of British folklore are presented with county maps displaying hotspots of historic, folkloric or ghostly shenanigans.”
It has faults, but it is inspirational.

Angel Heart (1987) - #noir detective chases debt through voodoo, fate & the Devil himself. Mickey Rourke stumbles through New Orleans like a bruised angel. De Niro immaculate

#folkhorror or a fascinating inversion that doesn't quite land? Well-worn but worth the descent

The 1968 Whistle & I'll Come to You is the gold standard of MR James adaptations

A desolate Norfolk beach. A pompous scholar (Michael Hordern) and a bedsheet. No jump scares, just pure, patient dread

Nigel Kneale's Murrain (1975) is a #folkhorror classic about the clash between science & superstition in a remote English village. Is Mrs Clemson a lonely outsider or something more sinister? Ambiguous & unsettling, it remains shocking over 50 years later.
