This medical visit was likely to figure out whether he is too ill to fly on AF1 overseas. Stay tuned.... he has (or at least had?) some overseas travel scheduled. If his vascular issues are bad enough, a really long flight could be life threatening.

My thoughts on Maine are that there isn't any real reason to think that Collins is an easily beatable candidate or that Platner would be any better than Mills, if he can't win a primary he can't win the general, she's an excellent candidate on paper, but 78 is crazy old to be elected to the Senate.
