A bittersweet outlook for moments when things are clearly deteriorating, but still offered in resigned affection.

See more on how to support deflated coworkers, cynical friends, and fellow commiserators in our latest article:

"The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave to it neither power nor time."

I keep coming back to Mary Oliver's meditation on creativity www.themarginalian.org/2016/10/12/m...

We've just dropped a new batch of 13 NFTs. This month's collection explores the ancient myth of Europa & the Bull. Often told as an abduction, there are versions that tell it as a story of trust, fascination, and seduction.

With a nod to history and a dash of irreverence, it lets you silently protest without uttering a word—because sometimes, your accessories speak louder than your words.

Today, the gesture continues to serve as a symbol of defiance, rebellion, and sometimes frustration. This subtle yet bold gesture, hidden discreetly in your hair, becomes the perfect statement piece at events you’d rather avoid, with people you'd rather not see.

This clever and rebellious gesture became a symbol of resistance and mockery, eventually evolving into the middle finger gesture we recognize today.

In retaliation, the English soldiers would raise their remaining fingers at the French, signaling their defiance and ability to still fight back despite the mutilation.
March 22, 2025 at 3:11 PM
During medieval times, particularly in France, the middle finger became a symbol of contempt and mockery, especially aimed at the English. It is said that the French would cut off the index and middle fingers of English longbowmen, rendering them incapable of drawing their bows.

There are a handful of anecdotal accounts suggesting that flipping the bird may have originated in ancient Rome. It is said that soldiers and gladiators used a similar gesture known as 'digitus impudicus' to insult adversaries or spectators.

I'm done designing the 2025 Fortnight Calendar! The layout is ideal for planning those spring gardens and watching the moon drift across the year. It's available on my website for $28 as a poster. Two smaller sizes are available to download & print from home.

@foxandthistle.studio has launched an NFT collection on exchange.art called FablersTrove

exchange.art/fablerstrove...

This is an entirely new venture. In a nutshell, NFTs give artists a way to earn money off our work, and to keep earning off each subsequent sale that happens thereafter.

This is a #garden #patio privacy wall I built out horse fencing and 2" thick red oak rounds. It's 16 feet long by 9 feet tall. There are around 150 oak rounds there now, and it'll take another 100 or so to finish this spring. #yardprojects
