We combined experimental data + simulation to study how nociceptive stimulation affects motor unit behavior during moderate contractions.

Our findings challenge the traditional view of uniform inhibition and provide new insights into how the nervous system adapts to pain during muscle contraction.

📌 The dimensionality of the linear manifold may not directly reflect the dimensionality of descending inputs but could instead relate to the organization of local spinal circuits.

We combined experimental data and in silico models and showed that the activity of a large sample of motor units from a single hashtag#muscle can be represented by a multidimensional linear manifold; however, these units show very limited flexibility in their recruitment.

In my group, we focus on understanding the neural control of movement at the spinal motor neuron level, combining experimental and computational approaches. We combine high-density surface #EMG and blind source separation algorithms to decode motor neuron firing activity non-invasively.
