they should be putting AI resources towards solving the "leaving a parking lot after a large event" problem. 40+ minutes sitting in a parking spot to leave an event that ended at midnight is a trash experience

Anybody else ever get to the point in the day where you are reading words, can easily tell that you've read entire paragraphs, but somehow have forgotten every single piece of everything you just read?

Spotify - why tf did you change artist profiles to not have album art unless you click into "See discography"?

I love wrestling and talking about wrestling. I cannot stand reading through the subreddits discussing them. If it isn't just flat out tribalism, it's some of the most hot-take garbage and conjecture you can find.

Truly the best advice - Like what you like and don't be a dick

Weird that we have to say this, but the government doesn’t get to decide what gender a person is.

12 days removed from Instagram and Facebook and I really do not miss them.

Honestly I barely am using social media at this point and I feel loads better.

Y'all should try it

I already collect MTG cards. I don't need to collect vintage music magazines.

I don't need to collect vintage music magazines.

I DON'T need to COLLECT vintage music magazines.

...but then again what if I did?

Not-so-fun anecdote: even in 1937 they knew white people were stealing music from black people and not crediting them.

Anyways this is just one magazine that I'm not even halfway done reading. I'm also no expert on music history (partially why I'm reading these)

Expect more fun screenshots and anecdotes to follow in the future

But the cherry on this sundae is absolutely the mail bag. This quote is even more hilarious when you understand the context: homie doesn't like being called a jazz "cat".

I bet Facebook would do better if it had accordion ads

Also hotels had live bands all the time and that was actually a big draw for them as I'm understanding it.

That alone has been interesting to read, but the ads for different instruments have been amazing.

Radio existed at this point but records weren't as wildly available so they'd have bands come on and play live. The President has a point when he mentions it would take jobs away: those live radio gigs could be replaced by recordings of performances that cost a fraction of a live band performance.

I started at the first available issue which is the January 1937 volume and it's been a WILD ride.

The main cover story is the ASCAP president in Chicago is banning recording music. Yes: banning it! Because records are going to take away jobs from musicians. And he actually has a good point.
