At last week's National Association of Counties (NACo) Annual Conference, I participated in a listening session with former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The conversation was highly informative with discussion on innovation and collaboration; I was proud to represent Frederick County.

What a beautiful morning to honor the sacrifice and service of the men and women who defended our freedoms with Wreaths Across America. With over 100 volunteers, including my children, we carefully placed each wreath, speaking their names and ensuring their sites were free of leaves.

The City of Frederick celebrated the 2025 Inauguration Ceremony for the 64th Administration. Congrats to Mayor Michael O'Connor and the newly elected City Council members. I look forward to collaborating with the new Administration as we work toward a Frederick County where every community thrives.

Today marked a truly special occasion with the ribbon cutting of the new John R. Webb VFW Post 3285 - the 1st VFW post built from the ground up in 20+ years nationwide. This facility will serve thousands of veterans across Frederick County, providing a space for connection where veterans are valued.

It was a momentous day at the Investiture of Brett Engler as an Associate Judge of the District Court of Maryland Eleventh District, with a packed courtroom! Judge Engler, a dedicated servant of the law, tirelessly advocates for victims of domestic violence and raises awareness about its dangers.

I want to extend my deep gratitude for Speaker Adrienne Jones and her exceptional leadership of the Maryland House of Delegates. As the first woman and first Black Speaker in Maryland history, I have valued our partnership over the past six years on critical issues to better Frederick County!

I had the honor of presenting a proclamation at the Human Relations Commission's Annual Human Rights Day Legislative Luncheon. We heard an insightful presentation on the Invasion of Privacy from guest speaker Joyce King, Chief Counsel at the Frederick County State's Attorney Office.

Frederick County relies on our fare-free Transit Services, which have greatly increased accessibility. To ensure this service continues, proposed legislation will dedicate a portion of recordation tax revenues to fund Transit Services. This will keep local buses fare-free without raising taxes!

I attended the FCBIA Holiday Luncheon & Installation! We welcomed Jerry Connelly as FCBIA's 2026 President. New officers from the Young Professionals Builders Council, Multifamily Council, and Professional Women in Building Council were sworn in and Rick Weldon was honored for his contributions.
