Merton Council have informed us that on Friday 17 October two trees, an alder and a tree of heaven, will be felled. The trees are in the children's play area. One is dead and the other is infected with a fungus. The trees cannot be safely retained.

Dr Dave Dawson, local environmental scientist, commented:
“It's sad that a large old ash tree by the cafe has a fungal infection and there's a significant risk of falling limbs. To keep the public safe, unfortunately the tree will be removed.
[This] underlines the importance of planting more trees.”

Message from Merton Council /Idverde staff regarding the Wimbledon Park Elisabeth Pool / splash pad:
Please help us keep the splash pool open by making sure children don’t bring sand – especially in buckets – from the sandpit into the pool. Even small amounts of sand can damage the filter & pumps.
