I always forget its a public holiday on All Saint's Day until I try to go shopping and all the stores are closed and then I convince myself it's Sunday and that's why the shops are closed until I realize its a public holiday right before a Sunday which means no grocery shopping this weekend!

Unfortunately, the Murder and Magic at Pengersick Castle episode is delayed until HALLOWEEN! Mainly because we've been watching the Blue Jays dominate during the World Series, but that does mean the spooky goodness will be ready very soon! Hope you can all wait just a little longer for the chaos!

What happens when you seduce a "far east" Princess, abandon her during her country's civil war, return home to your WIFE and son and then try to toss said Princess and her baby (your bastard child) off a cliff when she comes knocking on your door? Well...

I love a good fireside spooky story telling (bonus points if its during a summer camp scene). Of course, we have Gravity Falls and What's New Scooby-Doo as our classic October rewatchs, and we've got The Sisters Grimm lined up, but any other good suggestions out there?

Looking for a haunted house tale that isn't spooky? Well, Alee of Cairo chooses to spend the night in a house haunted by a Jinn, but instead of breaking his neck like it did to the previous dwellers, the Jinn gives him gold and solves all of his money problems. The end.

Fiction Friday: I've just finished Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross and I gotta say, the myths and legends she writes are as gorgeous as the covers of her books. The concept of a Goddess coming into her own power and navigating the world of the Gods was enticing. Also can be read as a standalone!

With R.F Kuang's Katabasis starting so much discourse around the concept of the journey to the underworld, naturally we had to jump on the bandwagon. Add in Supergiant Games' Hades II coming out today and what a perfect time to retell the story of Orpheus and Eurydice!

Every now and then I remember the story of Thor dressing up as Freyja to trick-marry Thrym after the Giant stole his hammer and I am reminded of these glorious illustrations (including the SMITE Thor Valkyrie Bride skin)

Nabeshima Naotaka after seeing a play about a Bakeneko terrorizing his ancestors.

The Bakeneko, a cat yokai, turned vengeful after his owner committed suicide following the murder of her son by the ruler of the Nabeshima clan. The cursed story became a popular play & Naotaka did file a complaint!

Have you listened to our latest episode? It features the "Love like Salt" Trope which is when a princess gets exiled for telling her father she loves him like salt. One of our inspirations came from @anooshasyed.com's retelling of the Pakistani version in her book "The Salt Princess."

Last night we started the massive operation of moving our reference library and document archives into our new premises, ready for public opening.

Our fundraiser for this task is really vital to our success. We are just £50 away from hitting four figures. Can you help?

We were recently given an ARC of "Curry Means More by Maria Marianayagam, illustrated by Geeta Ladi" and I am in love. As someone who has unfortunately heard "you smell like curry," I love picture books that showcase the smells of food as love and comfort instead of something shameful.

Fictional Folklore: Did you know that Jinu's Tiger and Magpie pet duo from Kpop Demon Hunters are based off of the Korean folk art style of Minhwa? The art style which wasn't referred to as such until much later, was considered the art of the people. #FolkloreSunday

It's Caturday and which means sharing some of our favourite cat-related books that you can read in a day (or over the weekend)!

These stories take you through the lives of different characters as they deal with loss, anger, sorrow, love and regret with elements of magical realism to them!

It's PRIDE MONTH, so we have delved deep into the folklore index to find you a tale in ATU514, "The Shift of Sex." Now, these stories are often of a disguised-Princess saving the Princess, marrying her and later being "cursed" into becoming a man....

As summer comes into full blast here in the mountains, we find ourselves surrounded by every shade of green imaginable.

No artist captures the feeling of lush greenery as ethereally as Mulgil Kim's (@sooroway) exhibit "Echoes of Evergreen" or her "Art Roads" project!

Some metamorphosis for #folklorethursday (🧵)
Myrrha was cursed by Aphrodite (or the furies) to desire her own father, so she tricked him into laying with her in complete darkness. One night, he grew curious and when he discovered his own daughter, he went to slay her.

We tried really hard to get the episode out today but unfortunately the script was hit by a spear that took a year to forge (& only worked on during the Sunday sacrifice) while it was perched between the edge of a bathtub and the back of a buck- all located on a riverbank.

The Maypole has gone up in our town and instead of dancing around it, now is the time to defend it from neighbouring towns! Once the Maibaum is stolen, it can be returned after heated negotiations for hearty amounts of beer.

What May traditions are you guys celebrating?

A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.
