Neil Gaiman is crawling out of his bog two years after sexual assault allegations to play the sweet old fantasy uncle again -- complete with name-dropping that book you like & his twee "make good art" catchphrase -- all in order to (of course) sell you his upcoming book. Don't you dare fall for it.

very funny to post this and then listen to the What A Time Bonus Episode for the day and get a lot of "she's doing that"
they got Natasha Lyonne in Fantastic Four First Steps as Rachel Rozman in a tribute to Jack Kirby and his late wife who, much like Lyonne "was doing that with her voice"

many are the tales from the marvel bullpen of Rosalind Goldstein visiting Jack with a "twenny three skidoo, boo, didja get that sweet fleece at old navy"

yeah the only way to be a marvel writer and be paid for the ideas in a movie is to be a ghost writer on the movie.

yeah I heard the "roz" part of her name and made a noise about it. "touching tributes to jack kirby" fall flat to me when it's a million dollar blockbuster from the disney corporation you know?

god yeah, a real stinker of a choice
February 2, 2026 at 4:47 PM

him interacting with the kids was the only glimmer of My The Thing in the whole picture.

oh something I finished and really liked, especially the more I think about it, was Lucky Day by Chuck Tingle. Really good at building sinking feelings in your gut that crash and flood at just the right moments.

gonna have to agree with you. Even one of my comic jew improv faves would have been a better call. Adam Pally, etc
February 2, 2026 at 4:33 PM

Ebon Moss-Bachrach... I won't lay my problems with that movie's portrayal of The Thing at your feet but suffice to say i didn't love it.

I liked johnny storm's arc the most (when he wasn't a "so that happened" machine), I liked that he got to be smart and that his big gesture/win with Silver Surfer was not romantic and came off as pretty fuckin brutal imo

i wouldn't say it was a waste of my time but i did wish I had spent my post "surprise free preroll" haze on something else
