Hi! I am moving some of my favorite memes about Japan that I’ve made over the years across the abyss to a pinned post over here, so that we all may have a happy, new life together. Depending on how well you know me, this 🧵 will either be my informal self-introduction, or a blast from the past.
A joke map of Tokyo’s Yamanote line, with all the station names “liberally” translated into English.

Oh wow thanks so much 🙏

I…. am going to need to start locking the door.

Cool I think I went there once that time my kid and I took local trains to Osaka and back over the course of 2 days. Great view at the top. We had trouble finding the entrance, but then again we had trouble finding everything over there.

Hahaha I finally got you to open this app I win.

This afternoon I took out my phone to show @ishikawasachi.bsky.social photos of my kids but my entire camera roll was so inundated with Skytrees I nearly gave up but I found some small humans eventually and by the way here’s a tower with some trains, now.
Tokyo Skytree now, lit rainbow and green, from the roof of a department store. Some passing trains. Mostly grey sky is still a little dark blue but fading fast.

And now a 記念写真 before I kick him out 😅
The back of two kids’ heads as the play trains, one ginger, the other about to get kicked out.

He just walked right up. We were all on the 3rd floor so I guess he came looking for us when we weren’t on the 1st 2 floors

And while I unceremoniously greeted the child with an “Ah, what the hell!!” I can’t get too freaked out by this obvious breach of home visitation etiquette because I am too busy being happy that my child actually has a friend and this is special needs parenting.

My younger son’s classmate literally just showed up unannounced on the 3rd floor of our house, which I suppose is what I get for leaving the door open and having the sickest plarail setup on the block 😂

That’s what everyone says when we see them 😂😬

Oh friend all the hugs I will be thinking of you!
gaijinmommy.bsky.social
Full disclosure I often think about how cool you are too 😘

Yeah I mean I don’t know y it is more expensive than the other drinks but maybe that creates a placebo relaxing effect…

They got sued by Nintendo so now you see them displaying placards that say “not affiliated with Nintendo.” 😂

Yeah and it is more often than not the sound of someone opening an alcoholic beverage, so.

I just opened an innocuous canned beverage on a mostly empty train and the way the few eyes that were in my vicinity darted over to me had me recall a time when I would measure distances on the Tokyo Metro by how many Chu-hi it took to get there, and that is not me anymore, so at least we have that😅
An innocuous carbonated beverage on an empty Shinjuku line. It is supposed to make me chill out. I’ll let you know if it works

Adding context: Azuma is a perfectly normal reading for 東, but in the case of 吾妻橋, it is the wrong one. Unless, apparently, you meant to do that. Then it is perfectly fine 😵‍💫
