One of the most painful experiences of my life was finally getting a vita (modern era). Not playing it much bc that’s how I am. Finally one day deciding to really give it a spin. And realizing it feels awful and thus wasn’t worth getting at all.

It’s not really meant to be a soulmate horse. That’s the horse you have. It’s meant to just be a horse you are owed that you can pick up if you want to give your old horse a break. And it’s also narratively dumb that the guy will watch over your old horse that you can visit anytime but never ride.
I am with you on the "don't give me choices, just tell me your story" platform and similarly, it's eyebrow-scrunching for me that they let you choose how your soulmate horse looks. Just give me the one you think she should have and preferably in a sentimental way.

Yes they do want that but they can’t achieve that just by MAKING me stuck with a horse. Attachment doesn’t work that way. So that’s why I think they’ve ultimately failed. I also don’t think you need to lock me to one horse to form an attachment. It’s my attachment that WOULD lock me to one horse.
Because they want you to be attached to your horse. It's an animal not an outfit (yes I know it's a game) and I think they want to evoke that connection. I personally like it and it makes me feel more attached. That's MY horse not A horse
