Arc Raiders is definitely my game of the year. Incredible game.

Arrowhead is saying that some players want to have a Chill Experience while playing the highest difficulty in Helldivers 2...and taking that seriously...is just...wow.

So that's where we are now huh?

Chaos has always been part of the Battlefield games, and a good part. But in past games, it's been purposeful.

The chaos in Battlefield 6 is entirely incohrent. I'm gonna hate using this phrase, but it definitely feels like Tiktok brainrot in battlefield form.

As part of my plan to form a buffer schedule of content, I have written and voiced 4 reviews this week, two video games and two board games. Next week, I start putting the videos together.

Doing 4 voice-overs in one day was a bad idea. because now I sound like I swallowed a frog.

I'm trying to build up a buffer of videos and articles that I can publish on a schedule going forward. That should buy me time to work on future videos in a way that allows me to post consistently so that the algorithm doesn't hate me.

But boy, do I have anxiety in the meantime.

Two games that have been out for years have pretty critical, near game-breaking bugs from recent updates. Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries and Total Warhammer 3.

Having to wait weeks to months for games that I bought years ago to be fixed is...certainly something.

Two really cool looking recent games by small teams grabbed my attention, and I planned to review them. But they both use generative AI for voice work. Shame, to the bin they go.

The True Potential of Total Warhammer 3’s Sandbox Blew my Mind - Gideon's Gaming
The complete freedom of Total Warhammer 3's sandbox isn't incredibly obvious, and a recent revelation while playing it blew my mind.

Hollow Knight is my constant reminder that not every game is for everyone.

Every time I see the Silksong hype, I try to play Hollow Knight again, and every time I bounce right off. It's just not the type of game I'm interested in, and that's okay. I'm still happy fans are finally getting Silksong.

Critical Role's next campaign is sticking with DnD.

That's certainly...a decision.

There is a reason I don't keep or use "gateway games". Some one not interested in board gaming isn't going to become a board gamer just because I showed them something light. Interest and willingness is 90% of the battle and I've taught new gamers anything from Eldritch Horror to TI.
My most contentious tabletop take is that modern boardgames are not that complicated. The issue is a combination of willingness + anxiety. Every adult I know (besides those with cognitive impairment) is intelligent enough to play every game I play, & it wouldn't take years steeped in 'the hobby'.

Pretty disappointed in the maps in the BF6 Beta, they all feel pretty small and borrow a lot from Call of Duty, where they constantly funnel people into each others backs. Hopefully, the full game has bigger maps.

Did a test run of recording gameplay with live commentary. I learned that if I want to do those types of videos, I only get one take.

I can retake a scripted recording, but if I try to do over of an ad-libbed video, I start masking and no longer speak organically. It's how my brain works.

Me: It's pointless to write a review about a 9 year old game.

Also me: I do what I want.

I'll have a review of Dead by Daylight sometime this week.

The pain of wanting to like a game is real. I want to play more Death Stranding 2 sooo bad.

But I just can't, no amount of self imposed restrictions change the fact that the game has a flat path directly to every destination. There is just no realistic way to engage with its gameplay loop.

I want to sit in the camp of "There is no wrong way to play a game."

But today, I watched my partner reload a save in Rimworld whenever something went wrong, and I felt physical pain every time she did.
