Let's talk more about Games Workshop litigation.

The creator's gofundme has been updated. with a small number of redacted pages of GW's initial filing - leaving me with a "hmmm...what's still hidden and why" kind of feeling.

But there's some new info.

That sounds better than 'Not-Quite Dwarf'.

Yet may I suggest a variation of 'Quite Dwarf-ish'?

Here's a thread that explains key details of the case better than I ever could:

GW's claim may be too broad, yet it's not entirely unjustified.
Especially as he's actually infringeing on GW's IP, by a massive amount.

He has blatantly ripped-off GW's Leviathan Dreads, various designs of Terminator, Impulsor, Repulsor, and Gladiator hover tanks, plus more besides.

It almost sounds like he's trying to build the real-life equivalent of a 40K Servitor*.

*Imagine getiing lobotimised and then turned into a cyborg in order to work in perpetuity in a role normally done by robots, only worse!

GW learnt after the case with Chapterhouse years ago that they would have to go after each one of his infringing creations as separate facet of their complaint if they did it under Copyright Infringement, arguing for each one.

The way they're doing it, though too broad, can use his body of work.

It was even more like that during its first days.

The first named Inquisitor was called (and I kid you not about this) Sherlock Obiwan Clouseau.
A name that summed up most of the range of Inquisitors in 40K.

The guy has been ripping off GW's IP through his Patreon.

As he's based in Europe GW can use a facet of European laws existing to prevent someone ripping off your copyright/IP and then using your hardwork to directly compete against you, which is legally defined as a form of Unfair Competition.

You must have been interacting with the wrong and very small group of 40K fans.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Jordan Sorcery does a Warhammer film club, that might be worth a look for recommendations.

Warhammer Film Club takes on 1980 pulp classic Flash Gordon and 2001 action horror Brotherhood of the Wolf!

I'm joined by the mighty @peachytips.bsky.social to chat about movies and Warhammer history in this final episode of this season.

Would that then be his "Mark of Calth"?

Saw this on Youtube and wondered if this was an actual thing you could buy, how much would you be willing to spend, and would you want an unpainted one to paint yourself?

Once again, he claims they reached out to GW.
And considering he has definitely not been as honest as we'd like, this might be another bit of dishonesty.

Especially as it is obvious which models definitely infringe GW's IP.
garygcrook77.bsky.social
No, we were talking about key defining features.
The flared Greaves of Space Marines is just one key defining feature of theirs.

Historical armour didn't have them so can't inspire a similar creation.

A rare design that's shared by two videogame series, one of which was originally meant to be 40K.
garygcrook77.bsky.social
The 1st picture isn't armour.

Megaman I'll give you, even though I did say "GW were about the only ones" which means there's a few others besides them.

The 3rd is of a super-robot which isn't armour, it's a Mecha.

The final pic is ironic considering the relationship between 40K and Starcraft.
garygcrook77.bsky.social
It also doesn't help that Ghamak's patreon has had loads of models that are clearly infringing GW's IP and copyright.
garygcrook77.bsky.social
Medieval armour, classical armour, suits like Iron Man's armour, and a lot of others have greaves that are shaped like the shins and calfs of the wearer or are wide at the top and taper down to the ankle.

40K SM armour are about the only ones with greaves that are wider at the bottom than the top.
garygcrook77.bsky.social
Maybe the 40K version of Haruhi Suzumiya created the Orks?
garygcrook77.bsky.social
Gizmo looks so disappointed (in you), and the other one has no idea what he's watching yet knows it is a horror.
garygcrook77.bsky.social
Pity you can't have a flamethrower for it.
Unless...
garygcrook77.bsky.social
When it comes to armour people wear there are certain universal features.

Yet like you said GW/Citadel does have certain cues in their armour designs that are unique to them.

Certain helmet designs, the flared greaves, backpack, most of Saturnine, etc.
garygcrook77.bsky.social
Well considering Orks are functionally mushrooms, and fungi can have thousands of genders, it could be Orks have so many genders that they wonder why humans are so hung up over them.
