So melancholy as today would have been my late, great friend Stephen’s 61st birthday. Sadly he joined the choir in August 2018 😞 My birthday follows in 2 weeks and I always rang him on the 9th to rub it in that I was, for a short while, 2 weeks younger 👏 Bless him💓

I’m sure this would make a brilliant Pet Shop Boys album title 👏

Fab tap in my garden. I was about to check if the water flowed when a family of incy wincy spiders dangled down from its interior to grab a glimpse of a humid summer day. Fragile athletics on a teetering web. Bugger. I haven’t the heart to evict these sweet creatures with a full on tap tsunami 💕

We’ve transitioned 40 years from Band Aid to Banned Aid. Good old Ian Hislop who articulated the bitter irony of the situation on tonight’s #bbcpm #GazaStarving

Whirlwind work visit to my hometown of Manchesterford. Squeezed in a steak and kidney pudding with hard core chips, gravy, mushy peas, L S Lowry… and my old mate of 56 years or so Paula 👏

Some of the best library events I've ever been to have opened with a poem. This is one. Thankyou Rishi 🙏 #cilipconf25
...And here's the #CILIPConf25 poem in full with a video of Rishi reading it.

Thank you Rishi - from all at Conference - and indeed the entire sector, for this beautiful gift of 'The Way, The Deep'. 💝

Brilliant keynote speech from Sebastian Cuttill at #CILIPConf25 on "the power of advocacy", putting forward a forceful argument for fighting back against allowing the AI agenda of "predominantly U.S-based tech firms to dictate our future". Am excited for the rest of the day!

Donalbain in bloody Macbeth! My father the king was dead and I skipped on saying ‘what is amiss?’ The producer sighed and said, ‘we’re not doing the Polanski version dear. It’s not a game show.’ I begged them to put me in a comedy. Bloody Shakespeare

My office at King’s College School of Medicine & Dentistry in the early 1990s. It was in the Pepperpot building in Camberwell, South London at the famous hospital site. I sunbathed on the roof. The posters tell a tale of the info industry as it was back then @cilip.bsky.social @ukeig.bsky.social

There’s an essential truth to this, played out decades on with the ascendancy of disruptive #AI. That sense of anxiety, angst and our library, information and knowledge profession’s immediate response to get to grips @cilip.bsky.social @ukeig.bsky.social @nedpotter.bsky.social @colric.bsky.social
