PSJ 53(4), the last issue of the year, is coming out soon with 18 articles. The lead article takes a great long look at more than 100 years of local policy making in Austin, and the lead Perspective piece offers timely insights into what today’s political climate means for policy theory research.

Huge congratulations to Dave Weimer on his retirement! Dave has been such an important figure in our field for so long, and it’s hard to imagine policy analysis without his voice in it. I’ve always admired not just his scholarship but also his kindness,

I'm back safely in Fayetteville after spending a few days at the APPAM meeting in Seattle. My very first APPAM was in Atlanta back in 2004 when I was just starting my Ph.D. studies at OU, so I've been going to this fantastic conference for over 20 years.

Had a great time talking about publication strategies at the journal editors’ panel organized by the APPAM Student Committee. As always, many early-career scholars wanted to know how to increase their chances of getting accepted.

Safely arrived in Seattle for APPAM. I left my phone at home in a rush this morning, so I'm doing everything the old-fashioned way. It should be an interesting conference.😊 Looking forward to the next couple of days!

This year’s PSJ submissions are over 640, surpassing last year’s 612, likely exceeding 700 by year-end. Including revisions, totals should pass 1,000. This growth reflects our expanding, improving policy community. Thanks for your support!

This is happening next Thursday at 3:30 PM PT at Hyatt Regency Seattle, 5th Floor, Room 501 - Chiwawa. If you are attending the APPAM meeting next week, I look forward to seeing many of you there!
PSJ’s Editor-in-Chief, Dr. @gbsong.bsky.social, will join Dr. Erdal Tekin and Dr. Cassandra Hart for a panel discussion — a great opportunity for early-career policy scholars to learn more about the publication process and engage directly with journal editors.

Had great conversations with fire chiefs & emergency managers alongside Kay Goss (former FEMA Associate Director) about what “resilience beyond FEMA” really means. Frontline professionals are doing heroic work to keep communities safe amid new, complex risks. Truly thankful!
