Yes, you could say this is just an announcement of upcoming announcements. In reality, we're just so excited about #pyconau that we wanted to share what we're cooking up for the year ahead.

authors you have the chance to do the funniest thing right now
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

This is about people, about systems, what it takes to make progress, and why being difficult is so important. From fire alarms to hospital beds. From music apps to cars. From climate change to education. Our systems are not serving us well, and it's time to push back.

What a thought provoking example of the state of individual vs corporate contributions to open source in the current “state of things”

Individuals are funding significantly more than the companies that profit from FOSS are. 🤔
We're blown away- the PSF received an anonymous $100k donation 🤯🥰 Thank you, anon, for your investment in #Python, its community, and the PSF. We are deeply grateful and committed to using every dollar to make a difference.

Generally you’d require them submit a risk/mitigation plan. In AU it’s an “environmental impact statement” of sorts. They’re responsible for mitigation + remediation costs… but you can approach it all very positively. Sounds like a great way to piggy back on their marketing to promote Protect Earth

It's *REALLY IMPORTANT* that you show this to your comms teams, marketing teams and leadership teams, because many of them are still using Twitter.

The only way to stop it progressing further (and with that stupid pet Nazi robot) is to ditch it. Starve it of oxygen.

People / orgs need to leave it.

I wrote a post going behind the scenes on selecting our city, venue and dates for @pyconau.bsky.social 2026.
It's the first in what I hope will be a series of more informal, long form essays sharing how we think about certain problems, tasks and challenges.
