Hi! From now on, I'm taking over for @oneorseveral.bsky.social and I will be adding geoscientists to the Science 🧪 feed! Reply here with links to your work (ORCID, Google Scholar, lab or department website, etc ) and I will add you to my user list. Let's rock this feed! ⚒️

I applied for many different degree programs and I was going to enroll in Computer Science But the night before, I got accepted into Geosciences from the waiting list. I had no idea what it was about, but I still changed my mind and chose Geosciences instead in the morning. BSc + MSc followed. 🤷⚒️

Hey #planetSci friends, the end of the year is nearing. Does anyone want to help me put together an Image of the Year Bracket?

If you want to propose your favourite planetary science image of 2025, place it below with a link to the source and when it was published.

Paleo folks: Please recommend researchers (incl yourselves) interested in phylogenetic reconstruction in deep time, molecular clocks (discord w/ fossil clocks), foundational/methodological issues in phylo/paleo-reconstruction & who'd be interested in hanging w/ historians & philosophers of science ⚒️

Our new Raspberry Shake has been live for two days now, and I think (believe, maybe) that this pick is our first real earthquake, @raspishake.bsky.social
Next, working on signal improvement.

New! We study the disruptive 2025 earthquake unrest near #Santorini using machine-learning derived seismicity as virtual stress meters at depth. We show the unrest was due to a magma dike intrusion, imaging in detail a complex, rebounding process of dike propagation.

The 2025 Santorini unrest unveiled: Rebounding magmatic dike intrusion with triggered seismicity
Magmatic intrusion in Earth’s crust can lead to hazardous volcanic eruptions, but the physical processes involved remain largely hidden from direct observation. We used machine learning–derived seismi...

You scientists, especially you geologists, can’t be trusted with messing around with DNA. I watched a documentary many years ago about geologists who brought back dinosaurs on some island. It was havoc. It was like they wanted to create some sort of park from the Triassic.

⚒️🧪 @raspishake.bsky.social

There are multiple reports of weak shaking from an unconfirmed #earthquake one hour ago in #Gelsenkirchen. Obviously I was in bed but I didn't feel anything. My Raspishake seismometer also doesn't show any event, must be something different?! #S04 ⚒️🧪

Thanks to sound.raspberryshake.net it's also possible to hear the seismic waves arriving after an earthquake. Here for example after the recent M3.4 Groningen earthquake in the Netherlands from my Raspishake. 🧪⚒️
