Empire with David Olusoga is amazing. One of the best history tv programs I’ve seen. Very carefully tackles the concepts of pride and shame in our empire and how we can think of it

Just finished the fantastic The Big Hop by @rooneyvision.bsky.social about the first flight over the Atlantic. It’s one of those bits of history that I had no idea about. A gripping read. I grew up near to Brooklands and had no idea about the aviation history of the place too.

Watched Return of the Jedi with the child earlier. She’s never seen it before but asked how many people had Darth Vader killed. I replied “not sure, a few hundred though”. She said “Luke just killed a million people on that spaceship, why is Vader the baddie and why are they having a party?” Erm…er

I’m old, I’d only heard one of the 1975’s songs before and to be perfectly honest they aren’t my thing BUT the expressions on the faces of the crowd shows how much this means to them. They get it, I don’t but that’s life. Young people are better. #Glastonbury
