Three members of the Petersburg street band Stoptime have been sentenced to 12 and 13 days in prison for their “unauthorised” concerts. Singer Diana Loginova (aka Naoko), drummer Vladislav Leontyev and guitarist Aleksandr Orlov often play songs by artists who have been declared “foreign agents”.

The group, called Stoptime, had been performing anti-Kremlin songs for months and gaining in popularity before the authorities moved against the open dissent.

A photograph worth remembering

The year 2025. Eighteen-year-old Diana Loginova, arrested for singing "extremist" songs on the street, looks at a police officer who will put handcuffs on her in a few seconds.

Diana will probably now receive a prison sentence of 15-20 years.

Thank you very much for noticing it! I have corrected this misprint.

Thank you very much for such a feedback 😊

It seems like mischief managed, and I have successfully generated an alien-like world :-) I was a little bit concerned that it looked too usual due to technical restrictions of AI.

I'll make a note to watch Scavenger's Reign and to compare the worlds 🌎
I am pleased that my post seemed interesting to you 😊

The feedback on the hypothesis itself (if any) would be appreciated
I appreciate your complimentary feedback and am pleased that my post is valuable for you 😊

This tiny jumping spider refused to surrender its hard-earned meal when faced with a camera lens, impressive!

I finally managed to get out with the camera, now I'm on parental leave. We're still waiting for the little one to grace us with her presence, it could be any day now!

In 2010, a scientist argued that 2.1 billion-year-old African specimens showed complex life appearing 500 million years ahead of schedule. His critics say they are — literally — fool's gold. At stake? The question of when and how complex life arose at all.

Thank you for the possibility to participate! If I have time, there will be one more post dedicated to #BiologyWeek - with a bit of sciencetainmental content
It's #BiologyWeek now, but I am posting a photo of mine out of a working environment — because I am no longer in academia.

But I am still a freelance science communicator, my computational research project in microbial biology is going on — thus still #IAmABiologist!

Today is Kelly's last day in the lab. She is the first research assistant I ever hired and made an enormous impact: quick to learn and delivering top-quality results. All while applying for a PhD - and she succeeded! I hope this book from @zjayres.bsky.social will help her with her journey.

The fourth place medal goes to Acrasis kona — a beautiful slime mould. Its recently sequenced genome reveals that it is the eukaryote with the simplest multicellularitry toolkit.

Maybe this is the most minimalistic multicellularity in eukaryotes ℹ️

Acrasis kona: light version of aggregative multicellularity
Until recently, the genetic basis of aggregative multicellularity in a slime mould Acrasis kona remained obscure. Genome and transcriptome sequencing reveals its minimalistic multicellularity toolkit.
