No actual youth crime crisis, just a reactive knee jerk politician crisis. It’s almost like they and their media masters enjoy punching down on those most unable to fight back.
Is Australia in a youth crime crisis? Here’s what the numbers say
State governments across the country have brought in harsher laws to deal with youth crime in recent years. But do the stats justify the punitive measures?

Isn't it great that because our gas market is open to the world, our electricity prices have gone up because Russia invaded Ukraine and sent gas prices soaring??

There's going to be plenty of analysis of the lastest emissions projections published by the Australian government.

But will just say that is no surprise that setting a target doesn't mean much without the policies and measures to achieve it.

Another thing: if we've only managed to cut real emissions by 4% since 2005, how do you think we're getting the rest of the way to 62-70% by 2035 with the same weak policies?
The land-use accounting tricks that got us to -28% aren't yielding any more.
Just to cut through the backslapping: the very small emissions reduction (2%) is nowhere near enough even for our own local targets. These are also the easiest cuts (ie from local pwr generation bc we are buying solar panels) and are only in one sector.
Exported emissions are 4x bigger and growing.

Emissions down across most sectors, except for transport.

The Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act, should require the government to assess the climate impacts of new fossil-fuel projects.
It’s a no-brainer!

Labor has backflipped on its 2022 election promise to rebuild the public sector with its intentions to slash 5% of spending off the public service. If Labor wants to tighten the public purse then rein in overspending on consultancy firms instead of cutting the public service.

How ludicrous for Labor to cut $5 billion in public services during a cost of living crisis. Every six months the government pays around $5b in Fuel Tax Credits to mining corporations to burn fossil fuels. If Labor is going to cut spending, cut handouts to fossil fuel barons.
