An abbreviation (ABB) in a journal article (JA) or Grant Application (GA) is rarely worth the words it saves. Every ABB requires cognitive resources (CR) and at my age by the time I'm halfway through a JA or GA I no longer have the CR to remember what your ABB stood for.

New paper in @pnas.org! How does stress affect our social decisions in conflict? More aggression (fight-or-flight)? Or more altruism (tend-and-befriend)? Our new study suggests: it’s not either/or, stress promotes both at once, depending on the neurochemical balance and the social context. 🧠

Not to mention that excitation ~= excitation (particularly for slope of the aperiodic in EEG). My take is that receptor time constants matter. Makes a difference whether excitation is faster (AMPA) or considerably slower (NMDA) relative to inhibition (mostly GABA-A).

📄New paper from our lab @hhu.de on the role of dopamine in multi-attribute decision making. Increasing DA transmission (L-DOPA) increased, whereas D2 receptor blockade (Amisulpride) reduced the effect of individual attributes on choice.
