Not a crazy game, unless you love goaltending more than anything, but it was a good clean win. The Washington Capitals go over the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-0 and improve to 18-9-3. 🧵 #ALLCAPS

The second period ends 1-0 in favor of the Capitals. More great goalie play, and after 24 minutes of 5v5, the penalties started flowing. The Caps got two full power play opportunities, but the third was only twelve seconds (no conversions). No high excitement anywhere. Fine by me. #ALLCAPS

Unsurprisingly, not much happened in the first period here. The Caps and Blue Jackets have gotten expectedly excellent goalie play and are defending well for the most part. Not too many great chances, but with both teams fatigued and injured, they might start coming as the game wears on. #ALLCAPS

The Capitals are hurt and tired, but at least they're home. Washington is hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7 tonight, without the services of at least Lindgren and Leonard (plus Dubois). Thompson vs. Greaves should be the matchup to watch, and a fun one. #ALLCAPS

The Capitals announce they've placed forward Ryan Leonard (upper body) and goalie Charlie Lindgren (upper body) on injured reserve and they've recalled forward Bogdan Trineyev and goalie Clay Stevenson from Hershey (AHL).

Mason McTavish wins it in the shootout with the Kuzy. Fitting, I guess. The Washington Capitals fall 4-3 to the Anaheim Ducks, in a game they really didn't even deserve the one point in. Not the best end to an overall great trip out west. #ALLCAPS

Justin Sourdif was in pain after an awkward collision on the boards and couldn't get his leg up to slide over the bench on his way off the ice. Dove headfirst and had to get hauled over by Nic Dowd. Rough night for the Caps' forwards physically
