Today the government have announced that they're opening a public consultation on the burning of wood and solid fuels in an effort to reduce fine particulate matter and smoke emissions.

Today marks the 73rd anniversary of the 1952 Great Smog of London, one of the worst air pollution disasters in history, resulting in an estimated 3,000-12,000 deaths from respiratory and cardiovascular complications.
