Heard a flock when walking back home on Taddy Rd from the York Beer Festival last evening (unless it was the beer calling)

As the breeding season starts, a reminder to think carefully before reporting/sharing pictures of rare breeding species on social media. They are vulnerable to disturbance & persecution. If in doubt, keep it quiet & contact local/county recorders instead.

It was ironic that they quoted the reasons why a ban is needed - wildlife and peat restoration etc, as part of reason to ignore the call for a ban. No real evidence why it shouldn’t be considered other than bland statements as to its ‘value’ - can only keep up the fight
