The UK uses c227,000 miles of wrapping paper each year – & an estimated 83 square kilometres of wrapping paper isn't recycled. So choosing sustainable wrapping paper, & disposing of it responsibly by recycling, is an important way to cut Christmas waste.

Fruit trees benefit all sorts of wildlife, including bees, bats and birds. But around two thirds of UK orchards have been lost since 1960. Planting an apple tree in your garden or community can really help to boost biodiversity.

Three reasons to avoid cutting back dead stems and seed heads this winter:
🐞 Hollow stems provide homes for hibernating insects, such as lacewings and ladybirds
🌻 Birds feed on seed heads like teasels, sunflowers and thistles
❄️ They look good when dusted with frost or snow!
