At a time when billionaires are making wild promises about techno-utopias, it's worth taking a closer look at Apex Legends' map of Olympus: a doomed utopia where unquestioning belief in the goodness of science proved to be its downfall.

My first piece for Eteo Archetypes is now live!
From Gulliver's Travels to Ghibli's Laputa, there's a long history of doomed floating utopias in the arts. Apex Legends fits neatly into this tradition - and its city of Olympus delivers some pointed criticisms of current-day society:
