But what you can’t reuse, remember to recycle it in your food waste caddy, available from your local council. Even the smallest amounts of food waste can help generate energy by being recycled.

The good news? It’s a great opportunity to make food go a long way and make future dinners and soups with the leftovers.
BBQs are over and roast season is here, where we indulge in a feast of root veg, tasty meats and scrumptious gravies. But it’s also the time that we generate the most food waste, from prepping and peeling to leftovers on the plate and remaining joints of meat.

Swale Community Leisure Vision Awards 2025
Thank you for taking the time to submit a nomination for the SCL Vision Awards! These awards celebrate the incredible contributions of local organisations, clubs, and individuals who make a real difference in our community through their passion, dedication, and impact. We’re delighted to be hosting this year’s awards ceremony at The Appleyard in Sittingbourne on Thursday 4th December 2025. Your nominations help us celebrate those who go the extra mile to make a positive impact — thank you for taking the time to recognise and support them. Nominations will close on Monday 10th November 2025. Category Criteria SPORT The Sport Award will be awarded to an individual, group, or organisation that has demonstrated exceptional commitment to sports in the local community. This could be due to their outstanding performances and dedication to achieving success, as well as their efforts to promote physical activity services and encourage participation among residents. LEISURE Recognising Excellence within the Swale Community Leisure Contracts. The Leisure Award is a prestigious recognition for those working in leisure within our contracts. Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond in their role, made a positive impact on the local community, or been an exceptional team player? This award can be nominated by other staff members or our valued customers. HEALTH The Health Award honours those who have made significant contributions to improving the well-being of local residents. Our focus on physical activity and health is integrated into all our initiatives, whether at leisure centres, community locations, or through partnerships. Nominate an organisation, group, or individual for their exceptional efforts in making Swale, Maidstone and Gravesham healthier places. EDUCATION The Education Award acknowledges organisations, groups, or individuals who promote physical literacy and the significance of an active lifestyle, or who encourage lifelong learning of this essential life skill. Education plays a crucial role in delivering a holistic approach to enhance personal well-being, which can be measured as Social Impact Value. COMMUNITY Recognising Local Contributions: The Culture/Community Award honours individuals who have made a significant contribution to their local area by promoting inclusivity, improving the local environment, and expanding the reach of Sport, Leisure, Health, Education and Culture within the community.
