Spot on from RSPB 👇
In today's Budget, the Chancellor spoke about building the economy “brick by brick” but left out the very foundation that underpins it all: nature.

The same Government that promised to restore our natural world appears instead to have wiped it from their agenda.

Public to Reeves: Wealth tax?

Reeves to public: Stealth tax.

Any less passive nation would be outside Downing Street with pitchforks.
November 26, 2025 at 10:11 PM
Precisely this.

Not a progressive budget, more of the regressive, targeting the poorest most.
April 2022 Income Tax Threshold £12,570
April 2031 Income Tax Threshold £12,570

Should be about £16,970.

Meaning every person earning £16,970 or more is paying £1,231.86 more in tax.

Threshold freezes are a tax on the poorest.

🔥🔥🔥 While everyone is distracted by other budget news, Labour have just announced that they will allow more drilling for oil and gas in the North Sea 🔥🔥🔥

Genuinely catastrophic for our climate and further proof that Labour care more about corporate profits than people or planet.

Labour, bought and paid for by oilygarchs.

More green promises trashed.
Utter insanity

Emissions up to now already lock-in a return to the Pliocene - 3C hotter and sea-levels eventually ~ 20m higher

Emissions need to fall by at least 50% in 48 months

The last thing we need is more effing oil and gas

Who gonna transition when the math don’t work?

The 50 wealthiest families own more wealth than the bottom 50% of the population.

How can this Labour Government say this is a "cost of living" budget and refuse to tax the rich?

They care about protecting power and wealth. And cost of living is a buzz phrase for them. Dire.

Regressive, principle free government in action. All those green promises were just lies.

But we can’t upset the banks in a neoliberal consensus now, can we?
UK govt can save over £20bn a year by ending payment of interest on commercial banks’ central bank reserves.

Subsidy implemented after the 2007-08 crash. Banks are very profitable.

Since 2023, the EU stopped paying interest on central bank reserves.

UK can find better uses of £20bn+.
This is how Rachel Reeves could deliver a progressive budget
