So there is a by-election just down the road in Middlesbrough tomorrow and then next week there are two more, Stockton and Darlington.

How often do 3 by-elections within 12-15 miles come along at the same time?!
The Green Party is proud to introduce Danny Reed as our candidate for the Eaglescliffe West by-election on 11 December.

Join, then get in touch with your local party & make it happen!

There is a role for everyone!

We need people to deliver/design/write leaflets; collate data; organise social events (VIP); develop policy; speak to members; post on social media & lots more.

Regards, a tired local party officer 😉
50 seats...

Time to grow the Green Party even more.

Let's go.

Around 26,000 of the neediest people in County Durham will have to start paying council tax next year...

About 2,400 others who already pay some council tax will lose part of their rebate.

Women and the disabled will be disproportionately affected.

Not quite what Reform UK had promised.
Council tax shock for thousands of Durham’s poorest – thanks to Reform UK
Durham will scrap full council-tax rebates, forcing 26,000 low-income working-age residents to start paying for the first time

Boosting for today’s audience. I cannot express how proud I am to have been involved with this charity and your boosts will directly help us to scale into the future.
My charity @protect.earth is five years old this week.

Some stats. 🧵

- Planted 157,453 trees

- Created 4,985m of hedgerow

- Removed over 15 acres of invasive species (Japanese knotweed, rhododendrons, bamboo and Himalayan balsam)

- Run 5 free hedge-laying courses for Welsh farmers.

There is a big shift in politics right now.
There is a rise in politicians spreading hate and fear …

And then there is the Green Party who are bringing hope back to people’s lives.

Drama at the kids football yesterday! Ref nearly walked off mid-match, a kid got removed from the team because of parents shouting abuse, team secretary/fundraiser quit!
Such a shame that a couple of people (the ADULTS) spoil it for everyone.

The Green Party would make a different choice.
Poverty affects almost a third of children in the UK.

Labour could choose to lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty immediately by fully scrapping the two-child benefit cap.

Remember: child poverty is a political choice.

I love how our local @greenparty.org.uk branches help each other out! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming.
Yesterday SHGP members visited @darlingtongreens.bsky.social to help #GetGreensElected in the by-election on 11/12/25.
They are out again next Saturday if you'd like a fun day out with great people.

It’s not. It’s a short sighted ideas.

Fixing leaky homes may cost something up front, but we don’t consider the benefits financially and socially to people having a warm house.

Less need for NHS
Less need for social interventions
Probably better productivity
Children not living in poverty

Slashing home insulation is ridiculous. How is having cold, leaky homes a benefit to anyone?
The burning question I wanted to ask at PMQs today: why is the govt considering slashing funding to home insulation programmes as a short-term, short-sighted way to lower energy bills? Why not do the smart thing instead, and tax billionaires fairly?
