Maybe next time when @zackpolanski.bsky.social is invited, Question Time can run an extended programme?

We Greens have spent a long time listening on doorsteps and working hard in our communities.

No wonder, now we are getting some media coverage, that we have a lot to say! #bbcqt

I’ve often thought what I’d say if I had the opportunity to tell senior Reform politicians what I think of the damage they are doing to our society.

@zackpolanski.bsky.social speaks for so many of us!

Blame the politicians for what’s broken. Let’s elect more Green ones!

Geordies are Black and White and Brown. We are a city of sanctuary. We will always stand up for migrants and refugees, and anyone else the far right wants to make the focus of their hate ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

Yesterday, Newcastle stood united in solidarity against hatred and division.

The North East made a strong statement that the far-right doesn’t represent us.

CONFESSIONS OF A GREEN PARTY MEMBER

With all this chat of lefties being tempted to place their faith in the Greens, here's an honest account of what it's like to take the leap... (from someone who joined 3 years ago) 🧵👇

Leader of Newcastle City Council confirms at Cabinet that Newcastle will NOT withdraw from the Tees Valley incinerator project despite the majority of the councillors voting to do so.

Even more disappointing, there wasn’t even a commitment to move away from incineration in the Council Plan.

Why are Newcastle Labour tying us in to a contract that forces us to burn vast amounts of recyclable material for literally decades into the future, against the wishes of the majority of councillors?

The vote went our way! Newcastle Council has voted to ask the cabinet to withdraw from the Tees Valley incinerator.

Cross-party support won despite the Labour Party trying to stand in the way.

The voice of residents is slowly being heard in Newcastle.

Nearly two years ago, I rocked up to Full Council as a resident to raise questions on health, finances and sustainability regarding the contract with a new incinerator (see the video).

With inflation and policy shifts, concerns remain. Tonight I’m backing a motion to council to think again.

Just for the avoidance of any confusion, Bus strikes in Newcastle are suspended whilst Unite ballot their members on the improved pay offer Stagecoach have made - so no bus strikes until Aug 31st at the earliest. Our councillors continue to be in touch with all parties and will keep you informed.

Every time Labour say “it’s Labour or Reform” or the Lib Dems say “Greens can’t win here” - it’s not the truth. It’s fear. Fear of more people realising Greens can and do win where they said we couldn’t.

✨ People want real change.
✨ People are choosing Green.
✨ And we’re winning.

🌱💪 When Rachel Reeves came to South Jesmond, she told people voting Green risked “getting a Reform councillor in here.”

The result? Reform weren’t even close. But the Greens won. 🚀

Massive thanks to everyone who voted Green, and to all of our passionate volunteers 💚

All of this was achieved in 6 weeks of hard work from so many amazing people. Join us to help build more grassroots community politics in Newcastle!
