After over twenty years of campaigning, it’s happened. The Global Ocean Treaty will pass into force - on Saturday! The Treaty paves the way for the creation of vast ocean sanctuaries on the high seas - including in the Tasman Sea between Aotearoa and Australia.

Three Greenpeace activists were removed by police after protesting Fonterra’s shareholder meeting. The activists set up a nitrate contamination tent and dumped two tonnes of simulated “toxic” slime at Fonterra HQ, forcing shareholders to walk through it.

Final day! Today is the last day to make a submission on the long term protection of the hoiho penguin.

The Government has extended the emergency ban on set net fishing around Otago for another nine months. This will give breathing space to protect the endangered hoiho population.
