Authoritarians like Trump don't like having democracies around, which is why he wants to undermine the European Union.
Meiselas: The official Trump U.S. National Security Strategy document has been released. The document says a top priority of the U.S. is "cultivating resistance to Europe's current trajectory." In other words, to destroy the European Union.

Note how the Kennedy Center ribbons are blue, instead of the traditional rainbow colors. Because the Trump administration never gets too preoccupied with its racism to overlook its homophobia.

Study after study shows campaign ads barely move the needle. So where does money’s real power come from? I ranked the five ways money corrupts politics—from least to most corrosive. What I’ve learned from 15 years of tracking political money:
Money Doesn't Buy Elections. It Does Something Worse.
Campaign ads barely move the needle. The real influence is hiding in plain sight.

"We tend to imagine corruption as a transaction: money buying votes, quid pro quos in backrooms. But money’s real power is quieter and deeper. It decides which candidates get to run, which policies are thinkable, and whose voices get amplified or ignored."

The only time Article 5 of the NATO Treaty was invoked was to defend us, not for us to defend Europe. European soldiers and civilians died fighting with us and working next to us in Afghanistan. Europe was not attacked on September 11, 2001.

President Donald J. Trump commuted the prison term of David Gentile, who led GPB Capital, less than two weeks after he began serving a seven-year sentence in a $1.6 billion fraud that prosecutors said harmed more than 10,000 investors.

Grocery, electricity, and healthcare costs are all increasing.

What is the Trump Administration focused on? Boat strikes in Venezuela that may not even be heading for the U.S. and are not clearly legal.

Their priorities are all completely messed up.

I agree with PM Tusk. Unfortunately, many in the GOP, including Trump, are fans of Russia and its autocratic ruler Putin.

No need for a formal ceremony as he'll snatch from the box & put it on all by himself. Both laughably pathetic AND pathetically laughable. 🤡 🫣

No shock. Today's GOP is the party of Vladimir Putin.
Mockler: I used to go to Trump rallies and I would debate with his supporters. There was this one woman… I asked her who her favorite podcaster was. She said Dan Bongino. I asked her if she would vote for Putin or Kamala if she could choose. She said I'd vote for Vladimir Putin…

American Science, Shattered
An eight-decade partnership between universities and the federal government made U.S. science preeminent. It took Trump less than a year to shred that

Roanoke College poll: Trump is much more unpopular in Virginia than during his first term
Nearly half of those surveyed see him as either a criminal or a fascist. Trump’s worsening numbers in Virginia help explain this year’s election and offer a warning for next year.
