Democrats in Congress want to keep ACA subsidies in place to keep health care costs from rising for more than 20 million Americans—and a lot of Republican and independent voters agree with them.

Democrats also want to reverse cuts made to Medicaid to fund the Big Beautiful Bill.

New KFF polling shows 78% of the public say Congress should extend the ACA’s enhanced premium tax credits, which otherwise would expire at the end of the year.
That includes most Republicans and MAGA supporters. https://on.kff.org/4q7ElGy

And my anger here isn’t partisan; there’s essentially zero chance this district elects a Democratic lawmaker. But that doesn’t matter. Those Arkansas deserve a voice in the Senate. The Senate deserves full membership. And I hope more colleagues speak out on this. #ARleg (2/2)

I know our governor made an exceedingly rare course correction when she moved the special election up a few months, but she’s still in violation of the law, and the people of Senate District 26—and my former colleague—deserve more respect. #ARpx (1/2)

The daughter of late State Sen. Gary Stubblefield, who died earlier this month, says Gov. Sanders' plan to hold the special election to fill his seat after the fiscal session is disrespectful to her father's legacy and unfair to residents of the district.

Amber Sullivan said all anyone was asking was for the governor to “do what’s right.”

Next June's special election is still too late for the people of Senate District 26 to have a voice during next April's fiscal session, and it leaves them without a voice for nine months, but it's better than January 2027. (2/2)

Leaving 90,000 Arkansans without a voice in the Senate for the next 15 months is unacceptable. Set aside next April’s fiscal session, possible special sessions, and months of committee hearings; Arkansans reach out to their lawmakers every day with questions, for help accessing resources, and more.

What a dumb sports weekend.

I’ve only followed F1 since early June. I picked McLaren before I knew about the standings, so I pull for Lando and Oscar, but I like Lewis, George, Nico, and Charles. Not sure today’s practices tell us much about Sunday. Assume it’ll be some combo of McLaren and Red Bull, maybe Ferrari. #ARlegAMA

What F1 team(s) and driver(s) do you root for and what’s your podium pick for this weekend in Baku?

Haven't done one of these in awhile, but it's Friday afternoon, it's nice out, and I'm looking forward to this weekend's F1 race in Baku and the Packers game Sunday.

As they should be. The First Amendment's first for a reason.

Happy birthday to my friend, Senate colleague, and, I imagine, one of the most popular people in Franklin County, Senator Bryan King of Green Forest.

He's wrong about Van Halen being better with Sammy Hagar, but he's right about a few things, and I've always enjoyed our talks.

Mr. Profiri’s absence didn’t go over well with lawmakers. A motion to subpoena him failed, but lawmakers made their frustration clear.

No matter how bad you think it might be to go, not showing up when lawmakers expect you will *almost always* make things worse for you.

I believe Joe Profiri’s still the highest-paid employee in our governor’s office. He got the job as a senior advisor after the Board of Corrections voted to remove him as secretary of corrections.

He was supposed to be at Tuesday’s JPR hearing and no-showed.

I am at the Joint Performance Review hearing on the Franklin County prison proposal. The hearing started with a prayer for former Sen. Gary Stubblefield, an outspoken critic of the prison who passed away last week. Stay tuned for more. #arpx

A happiest of birthdays to Mr. Billy Cook, President of the Young Democrats of Arkansas. If you see him, wish him a happy birthday, and ask him about renters’ rights here in Arkansas.
