What Was the Point of the Shutdown?
Democrats asked voters to weather short term pain from the shutdown to get long term gains in extending the ACA health insurance subsidies. Then they threw it all away. So, what was the point of all ...

JFC!!! WTF!!! 🤬🤬🤬 These billionaire oligarchs are the true threat to humanity. But you know what… there’s more of us than them and they depend on us. Time to use that leverage…

Schumer allows a provision to go into the supposedly “clean” CR to allow people like Ted Cruz to file lawsuits for money over Jack Smith’s J6 investigation. Amazing Dem leadership in the senate. Thanks Chuck!

These 8 people threw away the last month of collective struggle for a “promised a vote” that’s it. these people gave up on all of us bc their donors mean more to them than the American people. Shame on every single one of them. And it's even more heinous because they're not up for reelection in 2026

If, according to Trump, the government doesn’t have the tariff money available to refund all of it if he loses the lawsuit before SCOTUS, how can he be talking about giving away trillions in $2,000 checks?

True story: Schumer got spanked…

And it’s not even subtle. Ending the shutdown handed Trump a win, gutted Democrats’ leverage, and left millions still waiting for relief.

It was a surrender.

Since January, Trump's Treasury has quietly gutted enforcement of the corporate alternative minimum tax — a huge boon for big business and wealthy investors.

Meanwhile, he's led an all-out assault on Medicaid, SNAP, and other programs that help the poor.

Reverse Robin Hood.

Say what now?!?!?! 🤬🤬🤬 What a complete and utter moron!!!
So he’s saying all the tariff money we took in is gone and we won’t be able to pay it back. There was always a possibility he could lose this lawsuit and have to refund the tariff money. We didn’t prepare for that possibility? He’s running the govt like he ran his casinos.

I do not see enough people blaming the people who are responsible. The VOTERS. In 2016, they decided racism & misogyny were more important than experience. Then in 2024, they did it again. You can blame the Dems, but you need to be blaming the real culprits, our fellow citizens. They did this.

I’d like to hear what Merrick Garland is doing right now

Reading case law & ghostwriting long-winded opinions to soothe his embarrassment of being the most ineffectual AG in history who could’ve stopped this but was too meek to act against the threat of Trump, our country & to the rule of law…

Language buried in this shutdown “deal” allows 8 GOP Senators who tried to throw a coup, sue to get millions in taxpayer money—because Jack Smith got their phone records. THEY TRIED TO THROW A COUP. There is no excuse for any Dem supporting this. This is absolutely wrong. Full stop—Period.

It is over for centrist establishment Dems.
The Senate just passed legislation to reopen the government. 60-40.

YOU are what we voted AGAINST last Tuesday. So I'm gonna hang on to that.

I agree. It’s time the leadership of the Democratic Party to change. Schumer, Jeffries, the whole lot of them are useless. They need to go! We need the AOC’s, the Crocketts, the Sanders, the Mamdani’s of the party to take over. We need people who fight like everything is on the line because it is…
